Weight Loss is all About Burning Calories

Many people try to lose weight by simply dieting or replacing full meals supplements of one sort or another. But the truth of the matter is that while you can lose some weight through dieting alone, including a sensible exercise regime as part of your weight loss program, will give you much better results.

As far as what kind of exercise is best for weight loss, there isn’t one that is better than another. What fits you best is the right answer. If you are able to; run, cycle, walk, treadmill or hit the basketball court, the idea is to push the cardiovascular and burn the calories. It doesn’t matter how much you starve yourself, if you aren’t burning off more than you are taking in you will not see any weight loss.

Try to stay away from weight training initially as weight training will not burn off the calories and permit weight loss the way aerobic exercises can. In fact, Web MD reports that muscle gain of 0.5Kg will only burn five to 10 calories and you can get that result by taking the trash bin to the curb.

Some light weight training incorporated into your aerobic weight loss program such as hand weights when running will help you tone your body as you lose weight, but for your best results, cardiovascular based exercises are best.

One of the best workouts for fast weight loss is called circuit training and is used by cross-trainers, military organizations and tri-athletes. It is a simple set of resistance exercises and good old fashioned calisthenics combined with running or jogging that burns the calories and helps you lose weight.

Begin with a full stretching routine to loosen your muscles, tendons and especially hamstrings before you take off.
• Once you are loose and ready, begin with 10 repetitions each of jumping-jacks, sit-ups, push-ups and deep knee bends. (the type and number is up to you; try to do the exercises on a four-count).
• Begin running at a comfortable pace, at each quarter-mile mark, stop and do three minutes of exercises. (Your choice, just keep your heart rate up that’s how you’ll burn calories which leads to fast weight loss).
• Try to eventually work up to at least a three-mile run.

You will want to start slowly and build in number of exercises and repetitions along with run distance as you get stronger.
